The Role

 

Headlands Research Detroit is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist & Patient Liaison. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills and style to positively engage and assist our patients and their families. In addition, this role will play an important part of the patient recruitment process. This person will help bridge any gaps between our Central Recruitment team and the in-office staff to ensure an excellent patient experience and optimize efficiency of their visits.

Responsibilities

  • Bridge between Central Recruitment and in-office team.
  • Manage new patient schedule in conjunction with the office team.
  • Improve patient experience as well as clinic staff experience when it comes to patient recruitment.
  • Review patient schedule – identify missing information they can identify by contacting the patient before the patient’s scheduled appointment.
  • Verify eligibility criteria with patients for specific studies they are being considered for.
  • Explain what a patient can expect during their visit and answer any patient questions.
  • Reporting to management and performing administrative duties.
  • Answering telephone calls, as well as screening and forwarding calls.
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments, meetings, and events.
  • Pulling patient files for next day and filing completed patient records.
  • Welcoming and assisting patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Processing payments to patients in payment system.
  • Handling basic inquiries and sorting mail & faxes.
  • Copying, scanning, and filing documents.
  • Monitoring office supplies and ordering replacements.
  • Keeping the reception area tidy and observing professional etiquette.
  • Assisting clinical research coordinators on day-to-day research tasks such as requesting patient medical records, processing Primary CareProvider (PCP) letters, and scheduling research appointments.
  • Performing other administrative tasks, as required.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Minimum of 2 years administrative experience preferred in a medical environment; including experience in patient appointment scheduling, visit intake and use of electronic medical records
  • Experience in clinical research is a plus
