The Role

 

Headlands Research is currently seeking a primary psilocybin Dosing Monitor/Facilitator for our clinical research site Summit located in Portland, OR. Summit conducts pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical research trials involving psychedelics that are in phases II-IV of receiving FDA approval. The Dosing Monitor will help us ensure the safety, comfort, and support of participants during psychedelic sessions.

 

This is a PRN/Per-diem position and the number of hours per shift varies based on the study participants' length of side effects, but could be as many as 12-15. The site hours are Mondays through Thursdays, daytime hours.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare participants for dosing sessions by building rapport, explaining the process, and ensuring informed consent is understood.
  • Set up the dosing environment to be safe, calming, and aligned with protocol requirements.
  • Monitor participants during sessions, providing emotional support, ensuring safety, and documenting observations.
  • Collaborate with clinical and medical staff to respond to any psychological or physical concerns.
  • Provide post-session support, including grounding, debriefing, and ensuring safe transition out of the session.
  • Complete session documentation and report any notable findings to the study team.
  • Adhere to all protocols, training standards, and ethical guidelines related to psychedelic-assisted therapy and research.Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

 

Qualifications

Education & Licensure:

  • Must have completed at least a Master’s program as a licensed healthcare provider with graduate-level professional training and clinical experience
  • Current and unencumbered license to practice as a clinical or counseling psychologist (PhD or PsyD), Psychiatrist or other physician (MD or DO), Master’s level clinician such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or local state equivalent, or Advanced Practice Nurse (NP/APRN) such as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

Experience & Skills

  • Must have at least one full year of clinical experience in a licensed mental health care setting.
  • Previous experience with monitoring or facilitating psychedelic administration a huge plus
